HOA PHAT ECO – CONTRACTOR FOR DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION OF BIOGAS TREATMENT SYSTEM

With a team of experienced experts, the advantage of expertise in research and application of the most advanced technologies, HOA PHAT ECO specializes in providing design solutions for efficient treatment and reuse of clean energy sources in which biogas is an important application area that we are affirming the pioneer position in Vietnam.

Biogas is generated from the decomposition of organic matter of waste in landfills, breeding farms and wastewater treatment plants using anaerobic technology. This is considered as one of the important renewable energy sources to replace fossil energy sources. However, currently, treatment plants have not been effectively utilized and burned with unsafe gas flare.

Understanding that, HOA PHAT ECO has researched and provided technology solutions, design and construction of biogas systems, including:

– Biogas Filter, Biogas Scrubbers: The treatment system improves the quality of biogas by: removing waste gas H2S, CO2 and dewatering and reusing it for boilers, incinerators, etc.

– Biogas Flare: Automatic biogas flare to treat excess biogas gas.

– Biogas Drying: Too high biogas humidity reduces the efficiency of biogas combustion by boiler or generator.
The biogas drying system provided by Hoa Phat Eco helps dry biogas, reducing humidity from 100% to 20 – 30% and eliminating condensation.

Hoa Phat Eco Company provides biogas flare for the following fields:

– Biogas flare for landfills, waste treatment factory

VIDEO ACTUAL OPERATION OF BIOGAS FLARE MANUFACTURED AND INSTALLATION BY HOA PHAT ECO:

In order for customers to understand more about biogas systems, Hoa Phat Eco shares some knowledge about biogas burners and basic technological processes researched and summed up by our team of engineers.

OVERVIEW OF BIOGAS FLARE

I. BIOGAS FLARE

1. Open flares

Open flares are the most suitable solution in installations where combustion temperature and flame visibility are not subject to any regulations. It includes devices for biogas flows from 10 to 250 Nm3/hr and is characterized by compact dimensions, simple design, ease of installation.

Open flare with overhead flame burner design and suitable where the fire outlet must be kept at least 6 meters off the ground; The maximum capacity is 750 Nm3/hr. The product is designed with a stainless steel frame with a base plate to anchor to the concrete floor. Equipped with high voltage electrode type igniter and UV sensor for continuous flame detection. Fully automatic operation.

2. Semi-enclosed flare

Semi-enclosed flare are the most suitable solution in installation projects where combustion temperature and flame visibility are not subject to any regulations but the flame must be partially hidden and contained within the chamber fire. The combustion chamber can be equipped with a ceramic insulation liner to ensure long-term operation.

3. Fully-enclosed flare

Fully-enclosed flare are the most suitable solution in installations where combustion temperature and flame visibility are subject to strict safety, high power, high temperature regulations.
The Fully-enclosed flare is a biogas flare in a cylindrical combustion chamber equipped with a durable high-temperature insulating liner that ensures high combustion efficiency and limits both noise and radiation. The burner operates fully automatically with smoke retention time > 0.3 seconds. In the high temperature version the burner is capable of controlling the combustion temperature > 900 ° C – 1000 ° C. The combustion chamber is equipped with a high-strength lining with no anchor parts in direct contact with the flame.
The design of the flare and the combustion chamber as well as the selection of insulation and ancillary equipment make these units suitable for installation in projects with stringent performance requirements and constraints.

II. BIOGAS FILTERS

1. Condensate/sediment traps

Steam/scale traps are designed to remove liquids and solids from biogas, protecting downstream equipment from corrosion and clogging. Usually installed at the “low point” of the biogas pipeline, where the formation of “water pockets” must be avoided to ensure a steady flow of gas. The unit consists of a stainless steel flask with a removable lid and flanged connections for handling. The inlet/outlet design maximizes the efficiency of cyclone separation.
Condensate is continuously discharged from the outlet located at the bottom of the tank.

2. Gravel filters

Gravel filters are installed to remove coarse dust particles from biogas. They also act as a condensate trap and as an additional safety device that prevents flames from backburning in gas lines. The unit consists of a stainless steel flask with a removable lid and flanged connections for handling. The fill material is coarse gravel placed by random pouring so that the biogas flow is guided in the longest way, thus maximizing the filtration efficiency. Condensate is continuously discharged from the outlet located at the bottom of the tank.

3. Activated carbon filters

Activated carbon filters are installed to remove contaminants from biogas/air and control odors. The selection of the most suitable activated carbon is based on the application and the contaminant to be removed (typically hydrogen sulfide H2S or siloxane).

The device consists of a vessel in which the contaminant stream enters at the bottom and flows upwards through activated carbon adsorbing the contaminants.

III. BIOGAS SCRUBBERS

1. Wet scrubber (H2S removal)

Absorbent solution: NaOH, water, Chlorine, …
Wet scruber is the most suitable option for small to medium scale plants and is designed to remove hydrogen sulfide (H2S). The biogas is washed with a NaOH-water solution by a two-stage process: pre-mixing at the inlet, and prolonged upstream contact in the absorption tower with the washing solution.

2. Bio- scrubber

Dau Dot Biogas Bio Scruber
A biosorption tower is a device designed to remove H2S from biogas by washing the gas in a countercurrent with the mixed liquid coming from the aerobic treatment tank (activated sludge). Because of the contact between the two phases, H2S will be absorbed out of the gas phase (rich in H2S) into the aqueous phase (initially poor in H2S). The reaction rate depends mainly on the transition between the gas and liquid phases. This transfer is stimulated by an optimal design of the absorption tower.
Absorption towers are designed with the following important elements in mind:
– A special liquid delivery system is installed at the top of the absorption tower. Thanks to the distribution system, the washing water is evenly distributed over the plastic material layer.
– Biogas is brought to the bottom of the washing tower by a biogas distribution system to ensure that the amount of biogas is evenly distributed on the column.
– The material layer itself is located in the reaction zone between the water inlet and the biogas inlet. This has been designed to optimize the necessary transfer between gas and liquid. In the material layer, the aqueous phase moves downward while the biogas, which moves upwards, is washed in a counter-flow.
– After the reaction stage, H2S was removed, collected at the top of the washing tower and flowed along the pipe network. Meanwhile, the wash water, containing H2S, is collected at the bottom of the washing tower and then returned to the aerobic treatment tank. There the absorbed H2S is converted to H2SO4.

3. Biogas drying package unit

Purpose:
– Removes moisture through air cooling
– Collection and treatment of condensate
– Enhance biogas

The biogas conditioner unit includes all the standard key components for biogas drying, enhancement and condensate removal, and is supplied as pre-installed modules that are easy to install and operate onion.
The biogas is cooled to a temperature low enough to cause the steam to condense into water, which contains a number of contaminants that are dangerous to downstream equipment.
The condensate is collected and discharged by a cyclonic drum, while the dry air enters the integrated blowers/blowers and is supplied to the cogenerator.
